1999 Luray, Virginia

We spent the first weekend of May at Yogi's Jellystone Park in Luray, Virginia. The weather was perfect. We enjoyed the campground and the staff was very courteous. While in Luray, we visited the Luray Fleamarket, the Luray Reptile Center/Petting Zoo, and Luray Caverns.

Here's a question for you - take two boys, a paddle boat, and a pond with a fountain. Where will the boys go as soon as the paddleboat is launched?

Goat invasion at the petting zoo.

That's a dinosaur tail. Those are mini goats. The black one is trying to push the brown one off of the dinosaur tail. Got it?

      A mellow llama.

A very tame whitetail deer. She lived in a local park and was friendly with the park employees. One day a boy came by and shot her with a bow and arrow, then slit her throat. The park employees brought her to the petting zoo where she recovered, but the vet determined that she would not survive in the wild again, so she's been living here for about ten years. It was really neat to get so close to an animal that we normally see from a distance.

Luray Caverns. If you ever go to Luray, make sure you check this place out.
