1999 Cherrystone, Virginia

Originally, we did not intend to spend any time at Cherrystone this trip. We met some campers who really liked it, and we wanted to check it out for a possible future visit. We ended up spending three nights there.

We were camped right next to the bay. Here's a picture of one of our neighbors, a male fiddler crab.

Close up of our menacing looking, yet docile neighbor. There were hundreds of them living in the marshy area right next to our campsite.

Scott and Keith try an innovative campfire design, the "wigwam".

Another neighbor. Our campsite was very close to two fishing piers.

The Cape Charles water tower, dressed up to look like a lighthouse.

      Keith on the pier.

      Another neighbor. Great Blue Heron.

Our campsite, as seen from the pier.

Panoramic view of the Chesapeake from our site.

Sunset as seen from our campsite.

What camping is all about, right?
